Your Home is Your Haven, Not Your Workplace- Amber Link

Some of the most common reasons that people decide to join coworking spaces are that they are distracted from work by kids and chores that need to be done around the house, they want a community of coworkers again, and they want the ability to network.Read More...

I don’t spend a great deal of time reflecting on the past.  I try hard to live in the present.  However, with a birthday upon us at Link and growth in process it’s made me look back.

I remember well the day a couple of older gentlemen from SCORE told me to stop analyzing the business and just f***ing do it.  I took their advice and never looked back.  I did do a great deal of analysis, I visited over 20 Coworking spaces, looked for the right location for a year and famously re-wrote my business plan about 15 times but now I’m thankful for that time.

How Coworking Brings People Together

We like to say that Link Coworking is more than a place to work. It’s a community of people who like to collaborate, network and share ideas – both personally and professionally. There are many stories of friendships and supporting one another.

Curating a Community, Not a Space

The most important thing about a Coworking space isn’t the design. It isn’t the location. It isn’t the management. While all these things are important, what is really important are the people that you let inside the space.

Come Pin With Me

I’m a visual thinker. If you put me in a new city without a map, I will be completely lost. I can’t wrap my head around the layout until I interpret it visually. I don't think I'm the only one.

We need to give the world a little help in understanding what Coworking is…

I’ve always been fascinated by old sayings and proverbs, especially the everyday ones that strike you as odd once you actually think about them. “It takes a village to raise a child” or “Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub” are my favorite examples. In my 5-½ months at Link, I’ve managed to puzzle out my own interpretation of the former quote, with a slight twist: “It takes a coworking space to raise an intern.” Read More...

A Few Things I Know Now

It’s in the Details

You’ll notice it the first time you walk into Link – maybe not directly but you will at least perceive the affects -- Liz stresses the details. (Shhh… don’t tell but this might be what sets Link apart) It may seem obvious that details are important in accounting, after all an unnoticed typo could cause an error in the books or worse an incorrect amount to be charged, yet these are details that if missed cause problems, what I am really referring to are details that if thought through make something unique and bring success. It’s the fresh coffee in the morning; the little, mindful reminder notes around the office; the placement of a desk in relation to the room, taking the time to get these things right gives a certain homeliness to Link. It’s this care that turns the space into a place.Read More...

As a member of modern society, I think one of the biggest problems that we have is our inherent and primary focus on extracting some personal benefit and gain from any situation. Society has bestowed upon us the mentality that we must do anything to get ahead, no matter how acceptably rude, and that the survival of the fittest doctrine rules sovereign. We meet new people and establish relationships not for the pure joy of being their friends, but to increase the number of contacts that could benefit our success in the future.

It’s crazy to realize that my time has already come to an end at Link Coworking. Being the Events Intern has been one of the most rewarding, yet challenging internships I’ve ever had.

When I first started at Link, the dynamics of how everything worked was a bit confusing, but planning events was something I was interested in so I jumped right in.
